Dance Performances
I've trained in Chinese dance, ballet, and contemporary dance for over thirteen years, including five years as a member of a competitive Chinese dance team. Through hundreds of rehearsals and performances, dance has become much more than a hobby—it has taught me discipline, resilience, teamwork, and how movement can tell powerful stories while celebrating and connecting with culture and tradition.

Teaching Dance at FCSN
I have been volunteering for many years with Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN), a Bay Area nonprofit dedicated to enriching the lives of children and young adults with developmental disabilities. As a volunteer dance instructor, I teach dance, music, and other creative activities to kids with special needs — bringing joy, confidence, and a sense of rhythm into their lives through movement.
AI-Powered Dance Project
Inspired by my years teaching dance at FCSN, I created a set of AI-generated dance clips designed specifically for young learners and kids with special needs. The clips use EDGE (Editable Dance GEneration), a generative AI model from Stanford University that choreographs realistic, physically plausible dance animations synchronized to any piece of music. The key advantage of EDGE is its ability to analyze a song's rhythm and emotional tone and generate choreography that a real dancer could actually perform — no frame-by-frame animation required. For this project, I chose kid-friendly, upbeat music — tracks kids already know and love — so the AI-generated moves are energetic, playful, and easy to follow along with. This makes learning to dance more fun and less intimidating, especially for children who benefit from visual, movement-based instruction.
The raw clips were then post-processed in 3D software to polish the lighting, colors, and character look, giving the animations a bright, appealing finish that captures kids' attention and keeps them engaged.
